Great Show, Great Cause And A Magic Circle First!

Come and enjoy a terrific show featuring a dazzling cast of top-class performers — and guests are welcome too!

To celebrate World Autism Awareness Day, the Magic Circle is proud to present this very special Gala Show. All the performers are either autistic themselves or live or work closely with someone who is. It’s the first time we’ve ever done this and it’s going to be hugely enjoyable evening!

Circle members David Minton and Jonathan Bray have put together a wonderful line-up of talent, including Angus Baskerville, Bron Ivy, Paul Regan, Henri White and mindreading duo Jack & Rebecca Lovegrove! There may also be a few surprise contributions during the evening.

What’s more, as this is a public show (no methods, no exposure) guests and visitors are welcome (subject to the usual rules and fees). This means it’s an excellent opportunity to invite one or two of your non-magician friends along to see the world-famous Magic Circle and enjoy a great magic show in our wonderful theatre at the same time!

We know you can’t all get along to our wonderful HQ in person, but if you can then please come along to support this event. Have a drink, see your friends and enjoy a fabulous evening of fun, magical entertainment that everyone can enjoy! It’s all for a good cause and new initiatives like this are worth supporting.

Not Just For Mentalists!

If you’re into mentalism, this will be an unmissable masterclass. Like Paul McCartney teaching songwriting.
But if you’re not into mentalism — come along anyway and prepare to be surprised! In his lectures, Jan Forster always includes routines that even the ‘I don’t normally do mentalism’ brigade will love. Plus, Jan teaches how to take any trick, in any genre, and use a few refinements to build it into a miracle.
So, who is Jan? Based in Göttingen, in central Germany, Jan started off as a manipulator — and a pretty good one! His ‘Smoker’s Dream’ act took first prize at several major conventions. However, he eventually decided to become a full-time professional mentalist and has never looked back. These days, he performs just about everywhere: theatres, clubs, corporate events, cruise ships and on TV.
If you like shiny credentials, here you go: Jan was the headline lecturer at ‘Mindvention’ in Las Vegas in 2011 and 2021; ‘Mind Summit’ in Cologne in 2014 and 2017; and the ‘Minds’ convention in Newcastle in 2017. His first Penguin lecture (2016) was a huge success, as was his ‘Live Acts’ show and lecture in 2018. He also created a four-part online lecture series for Penguin called ‘PBR In Mentalism’ (‘Principles, Basics And Routines’) that sold out within minutes!
Jan (who speaks six languages) has so far published seven books on mentalism, all in German, with an eighth in preparation. He’s currently working on a book in English that will contain all his published material as well as important updates. This will be ready later this year.
So, come along to the Circle, have a great evening with your friends and enjoy what promises to be one of the most fascinating, instructive and entertaining lectures you’ll ever see!
“Jan is the epitome of the classic mentalist persona. His ACAAN is one of the best I’ve seen, and his knowledge and skills are world class.” — Bob Cassidy
“Jan’s billet work is simply exceptional!” — Pete Turner
“Jan Forster’s lecture alone made attending the whole convention worthwhile. There is probably no other performer who works out his routines in such a subtle and sophisticated way. Simply magnificent!” — Boretti

Card, Coins, Mentalism And Discounts!

Mark Chandaue, in addition to being one of the nicest guys in the business, is a brilliantly creative magician and mentalist. This lecture is going to be packed with great ‘worker’ material, ingenious thinking and the kind of effects that make you think, “Why didn’t I think of that?!

Based in Richmond, Mark is a full time ‘working pro’ who has done it all. He was the Hamleys Resident Magician from 1981-86 and has also been a Covent Garden street performer and a holiday camp entertainer. These days, he mostly performs at parties, weddings, Masonic ladiesnights and corporate events. In 2023 he was the recipient of the prestigious ‘Jack award at the MINDS convention.

So, what will Mark be sharing in this lecture? Among other effects, Mark will present a progressive coin assembly with a kickback ending, a transposition effect with a thoughtof card, an ‘impossibly fair’ card prediction, a mindreading effect with Scrabble cards and his own highly deceptive version of ‘Confabulation’.

In addition, Mark will share his creative process and show how we can all come up with neweffects that are both entertaining and highly deceptive.

Although this is not just a ‘dealer dem’ lecture, it’s going to be a good night if you like a bargain! On Mark’s website (www.harpacrown.co.uk), Circle members can use code CIRCLE15 to get 15% off everything. However, on this very special night, Mark will be offering even greater discounts to everyone attending in person.

Mark will be selling his highly acclaimed books, Harpacrown Too’,The Harpacrown Essays’ and ‘Totally Free Will’. He’ll also have some of his ‘signature’ effects for sale, such as:
‘The Daddy’, a book test like no other.
Crossword, in which a thoughtof card appears in a packet held by the spectator.
Bomp, a card prediction.
Reverse Svengali Deck, including a very deceptive ACAAN.

Brilliant tricks from a seasoned pro, creative tips, a few stories and laughs plus discount ‘merch’… what more could you want?! We know not all of you can attend club nights in person. But if you can, come along, have some fun, support this excellent, high value lecture and give Mark the support he deserves. It’s going to be a very magical night!

Celebrating With Styles!

This is going to be amazing!
The ‘Legends Of Magic’ nights at the Circle are always popular — and with good reason! These interviews are fascinating, surprising and fun, plus they give us all an opportunity to learn from a star of magic sharing literally a lifetime of experience.
Recent ‘Legends’ nights starring Terry Herbert and George Kovari were a delight from start to finish. This time it’s the turn of the wonderfully entertaining John Styles and believe me — you do not want to miss this very special occasion!
John is a highly accomplished magician who was one of very first to have a restaurant residency (at ‘Smollensky’s On The Strand’). He has also worked as a consultant and magical advisor on a range of TV and film projects spanning several decades — which he’ll talk about during the interview. As if that weren’t enough, John is the world’s leading expert on the quintessentially British art of Punch & Judy! He has presented P&J shows all over the world — including places where this form of entertainment was completely unknown. And if all that’s not impressive enough, John was awarded an MBE for his contribution to the Arts!
John will be interviewed on stage by our very own Noel Britten and there will be plenty of stories and video clips to enjoy along the way.
If you’ve been to a ‘Legends’ night before, you’ll know that the atmosphere, in both the clubroom and the theatres, is always lively and enjoyable. We’re all ‘standing on the shoulders of giants’, so to speak, and it’s a privilege to be able to learn from someone who is ‘magical royalty’. Get down to the HQ, have a great evening and let’s make sure John gets the attendance he deserves!
