Death of Dr. Eddie Dawes,

Statement from Megan Swann, president of The Magic Circle.
“On behalf of The Magic Circle, I am devastated to announce the death of our beloved member Eddie Dawes, at the age of 97. Eddie died at his home on Friday, March 3.

“Eddie was without question the foremost historian of magic. His columns in The Magic Circular, A Rich Cabinet of Magical Curiosities, were a magnificent resource of knowledge for magicians across the globe.

“In recognition of his extraordinary contribution to the world of magic, in 2017 Eddie became only the 10th recipient of The Magic Circle’s Gold medal, the rarest honour we bestow on any member.

“We will miss his incomparable knowledge and wisdom. The international magic community mourns for a truly wonderful person.
