For the first time the winner of The Magic Circle Young Magician of the Year Competition is a girl. The twenty-eighth biennial competition, staged on Sunday in The Magic Circle theatre was won by Leah Mae Devine who, assisted by her sister, Sara Jade, outshone her seven male rivals with an elegant illusion act that combined powerful magical effects with music and balletic choreography.

The joint runners up were David Hardman and Callum McClure whose lively magic acts featured classic tricks and witty banter.

The competition was hosted by the 2007 winner of the competition Ben Hart AIMC (currently starring in the BBC3 series, Killer Magic) and the awards were presented by Scott Penrose MIMC, President of The Magic Circle.
