It with sadness that the President and Council note the passing of Hans Moretti, MIMC with Gold Star, Honorary Member Professional of The Magic Circle at the age of 85. Hans was one of the most compelling performers and colourful characters in magic and during a career that spanned fifty years, treated the world to astonishing illusions and staggering, death-defying escapes.

With his late wife, Helga, the Morettis enthralled audiences from circus tent to television studio, returning many times to the Paul Daniels Show. They won first prize for Grand Illusions at FISM in 1976 with their Sword Box routine and at the FISM Brussels XIV World Championship in 1979, Hans won the Mentalism prize with his Russian Roulette act.

Larger than life, Hans was a supreme showman whose performances mixed high octane energy and edge-of the-seat danger – with a splash of glitz and a dash of tension-relieving humour – to create routines like his blindfold crossbow effect that were not so much memorable, as unforgettable!
