It is with deep regret that I learn that Paul Daniels passed away this morning, aged 77.

One of the biggest stars on British television, Paul Daniels was a consummate performer. For fifteen years The Paul Daniels Magic Show dominated BBC light entertainment and, at the height of his fame gained more than a third of the viewing public on a Saturday night with 20 million viewers regularly tuning into his unique style of comedy and magic.

Winner of every major Magic Circle Award including ‘The Devant’ for advancing the art of magic, The Maskelyne for services to British Magic and The Carlton Award for Comedy, Paul inspired a new generation of magicians to take up the art form.

While the magic world has lost a legend, his legacy will live on forever.

On behalf of all our Members our thoughts go to his family including his wife Debbie and sons Martin, Gary and Paul.
